No er oss godt i gang med ein nytt år, no er eg i gang med årets fyrste blogg.
Fjoråret var ikkje so masse å skryte over om ein tenkjer på bloggen min, eg hadde berre nokon få innlegg.
Men samtidig var 2010 eit bra og spenneandes år, ferdig med studie, fått meg jobb, kjøpt bil for fyrste gong (med god hjelp av banken), flytta til ein ny plass, ny leilegheit (leige) og mange andre nye opplevingar.
Men det som var viktigast i 2010, det er den tida eg har hatt med familie og venner som eg vil huske best og være mest takknemleg for.

Eg trur at 2011 blir eit spennande år og eg gleder meg til å finne ut kva året har å by på.
So kanskje dette året blir eit å betre blogg år enn det forgje.

Kva man kan gjøre i staden for å skrive på oppgåva si?

Når man skal eller bør skrive oppgåve, så er det ofte masse andre ting man plutselig finne ut at man vil gjøre. Kanskje særlig på helligadaga, for da har jo alle fri!
Her er 10 ting som eg har gjort i dag i staden for å skrive.

1. Surfe på nett, lese diverse nettaviser om og om igjen.
2. Spelt FM 09 (Der Godøy leiar tippeligaen. Å Noreg består mest av Godøy spelarar. Ja, eg har kanskje laga Godøy litt vel bra. Men er lov å drømme )
3. Sjekk facebook x-antall ganga.
4. Vaske opp
5. Prøve Isabell Lakris is (Vå veldig skuffandes, so blir ikkje meir av den)
6. Sjå på tv, men ikkje nokkes spesielt.
7.Fare å sjå cup kamp.(Oldenborg tapt 1-0 mot Kongsvinger, men veldig spennande å gøy kamp)
8. Gå en tur
9. Kjøpe hamburgar tallerken på Bislett kebab
10. Skrive et blogginnlegg

Kunna so klart nemnt fleire ting, men i morgå lova eg skal skrive ein del på oppgåva!

Til slutt.
Her er cupsangen til Oldenborg. Absolutt ein veldig bra fotballsong. Søsing er viktig i fotball, gir ofte ekstra krefter. Å det hjelpte nesten mot Kongsvinger i dag

Film

Eg likar å sjå film, å er også ein fin avkopling frå oppgåve skriving.

Den siste filmen eg såg på kino var Iron Man 2. Eg likte veldig godt film nummer ein, å gledde meg til å sjå oppfølgjaren. Å film nummer to er absolutt ikkje nokon dårligare film, så denne kan eg anbefale på det sterkaste.

Den neste filmen eg har plana om å sjå på kino er Robin Hood. Har alltid likt historia rundt denne helten, som tar frå dei rike og gir til dei fattige. Robin Hood Prince of thieves og Disney teiknefilm versjonen er absolutt verd å ha i film samlinga.
Russell Crow og Ridely Scott jobba i lag på Gladiatoren, har igjen samarbeida. Eg var litt skeptisk når Crow skulle spele Robin, sia eg tenkte at det kunne bli litt lik Maximus rolla. Men etter å ha sett fleire traileren frå filmen, så er eg overbevist. Å uansett så var Crow i rolla som Maximus så stor, at det kan man gjerne igjen.
So gler meg til å sjå filmen.

Neste veke kjem også Prince of Persia, og utover sommaren filma som: Shrek 4, Centurion, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Toy Story 3, Inception og fleire.
So blir vel kanskje eit kino besøk eller to i løpet av sommarferien med!

Tottenham

Endelig klarte Tottenham å komme blant dei 4 beste i Premier League. So til hausten blir det sjansar til å spele i Champions League :)
Kanskje blir det ny Crouch dans?? ;)

Skulla kanskje tru at denne bloggen vå nedlagt å glømt, men må prøve å komme meg tilbake i bloggverden.
I denne posten blir ganske kort, men fær komme tilbake til større og kjekkare innlegg på sikt.

Eg nærma meg slutten av studietida, so då er det so klart både oppgåve og eksamen i vente. Å sia oppgåvene ikkje skrive seg sjølv, so ska eg prøve å skrive litt på dei no.
Har forandra litt på layout og nytt framside bilde.
Men eg kjem plutselig tilbake med ein ny post på bloggen!

Machu Pitchu

Etter nokon dagar på reising er vi igjen tilbake i Lima. Vi har vært innom Cusco, Aguas Calientes og Machu Pitchu.Cusco er ein by som ligger rundt 3400 meter over havet, dette gjør at lufta er tynnare enn vanlig. Å ting som å gå i trapper, straks blir litt meir tungt.Eg syntest byen va veldig fin, å skulle gjerne hatt fleire dagar der.

Oss prøvde også å ete frityrstekt marsvin, greitt å prøve sia marsvin er ein av nasjonalrettane til Peru. Er visst fleire måtar å tilbrede det på Aguas Calientes er byen som liggjar nedanfor Machu Pitchu, her overnatta vi ei natt. Ein ganske liten by, som blei litt for masse turist by for meg. For å komme hit, tok vi tog i litt over 3 timar

Machu Pitchu er ein gammal inkaby langt opp i fjella, som lenge var forsvunne I jungel landskapet. I 1911 blei den oppdaga på nytt, å er nå eit veldig populært turistmål.
Når oss vå der, so vå der dessverre både regn og skodde, men det var ein fin tur uansett.

In the Jungle

Hadde ein kjempe fin tur i jungelen i Iquitos, men sia eg må stå opp om 5 tima, for å reise vidare til Cusco (Machu Pitchu på Onsdag). Så fær det holde med nokken bilde i denne omgongen. Heilt til slutt eit par biletet av meg når eg møtte Erick og Dino.

Curitiba-Lima

Nå sitter eg i eit gjestehus i Lima å tenkte at eg skulle legge ut litt fleire bildar frå bryllaupet til Mateus.
Det var et veldig fint bryllaup, der brudeparet starta med å danse og synge lovsang, før vielses delen starta.
Der var fleire som eg har gått i lag med på Hald i bryllaupet, so blei at oss fekk eit eige bord. Kjekt å mimre litt og høre om nye ting i liva deira. Både Leo og Rafaela har blitt gift sia sist eg traff dei, å begge har hyggelig ektemake.

I går kom oss til Lima, Stine og Dino møtte oss på flyplassen. Dino stilte opp med norsk flagg t-skjorte og skjerf og bukse med litt norsk flagg på.
Seinare på dagen blei oss med Stine der ho no har praksis, veldig spenna å sjå korleis ho jobba, mange herlig ungar, so håper oss fær sjansen til å fare innom meir der.

Kommer meir om Lima og Peru snart ;)

Tilbake i Brasil

I motsetning til sist gong eg var i Brasil, så er går det nå mot sommar, så her er det godt å varmt.Reisa gjekk bra, uansett om det ikkje blei so masse søvn, men eg treng ikkje so masse av det eller :PDenne gongen reiser eg ikkje aleine, men ilag md Nils-Ove og Lidvar.
Dei første dagane har vi brukt i Soracaba, der har vi besøkt Tais og hennas familie. He blant anna fått tid til å fare i dyrehagen, iskremfabrikk og grillmat restaurant (der man kunne ete so masse som en ville). Oss også tid til å slappe av og prøve å lære nokken få portugisisk glose, men ikkje so lett.Var veldig kjekt å være tilbake i Soracaba, å henge ilag md Tais, Renato og familien hennar. Har nå komet Curitiba, der vi skal i bryllaup på søndag, til Mateus, ein som var rom kameraten min på Hald. Ser ut som det blir ei helg med knall ver, so det lovar bra. Kommer fleire folk som eg gjekk ilag med på Hald, så gler meg til å sjå dei alle igjen.

No har eg endelig sett min første 3D film, eg såg filmen UP (Se opp, på norsk), i går. Eg likte den veldig godt, ein koselig og morosam Disney Pixar film, so anbefalst :)Under er eit bilde av meg med 3D briller ;) På onsdag drar Eg, Nils-Ove og Lidvar til ein nesten tre vekers tur til Brasil og Peru.Bryllaup, Jungel, Machu Pitchu, masse gøy og so klart besøke ein del venner som eg blei kjent med på Hald. So dette blir stas!

I dag klokka 07.33 blei eg onkel for andre gong, denne gongen til ei jente som heiter Line.
Ho er 5600 gram tung og 57 cm lang!
He ikkje bilde enda, kommer so fort so mulig. Bilde oppom er av min første onkel unge, Mads, som sikker er like gla for å få ei søster som han var på bilde.

Då he det gått over tre måna sia eg har oppdatert blogg! Å masse har no skjedd på den tida! Skal ikkje gå i detalj på kva som har skjedd, men her kjøme litt ;)
På desse tre månane so he eg faktisk vore i tre bryllaup, ikkje dårlig det!
So gratulere til Eivind og Anne-Margrethe (bide oppe) Simen og Elisabeth, Anna-Lena og Stian (bilde nede), He komet godt i gong med haustsemesteret på MF, har masse spennande. Der faget om sjelesorg og ungdomsdiakoni, er det faget som eg synest er mest spennande. Delen som går på sjelesorg er både utfordrandes og lærerikt, å da blir det straks lettare å motivere seg sjølv til å studere.Er mitt nest siste semester på UKT linja på MF, so fær en sjå kor eg endar opp til neste haust.

Ein ting som eg ser fram til nå i haust, er når eg og Nils-Ove skal reise til Sør-Amerika frå 28.Oktober til 16 November . Vi skal først til Brasil, der vi skal i bryllaup til Mateus, ein som eg delte rom med, når eg gjekk på Hald. Etter det so blir det ein tur til Peru, er vi skal besøke Stine, som nå har praksis i Lima. Eg kjenner også Erick og Dino frå tida på Hald, å ser veldig fram til å henge i lag med både dei og Stine :)
Håper også på å få til ein tur til Machu Picchu når vi først er i Peru!

Comeback

Den siste offisielle kampen eg har spelt, var borte mot HaNo hausten 2006, rett før eg reiste til Uganda. Etter det har eg spelt 5 min i ein trenings kamp for Godøy, å søte på benken i eit par kampar, som ekstra reserve om der skulle bli mange skadar.Eg, Christian, Mads, Daniel
Men no på Laurdag gjorde eg comeback, for Godøy2/Vigra2, det blei tap 3-0 mot Ellingsøy, men vå utrulig kjekt å få spele ein fotball kamp igjen!Det vå ekstra gøy at eg fekk spele i lag med min bror og sviger bror, so over er eit bildet av oss tre, og min nevø :)Nedom ein del bilete frå barndommen

Da er eg for lengst, det er i alle fall over ein veke sidan eg hadde den siste eksamen før sommaren. Er passe fornøgd med dei to eksamena eg hadde, so fær en vente å sjå kva sensorane synst om arbeidet.

Den siste helga i Oslo, brukte eg faktisk ikkje i Oslo, men på ein leirplass utan for Moss, der hadde vi ein gjeng med leiarar tatt med nesten 20 ungdomar frå Verkstedet (ungdomsklubben) som eg med på i forbindelse med praksis. Ei kjempehelg, veldig fin plass, fint vær, blei tid til både bading, soling, gras klipping, mat, avslapping, film og masse kjekke ute aktivitetar. Ei god avsluting på semesteret.

No he eg komet tilbake til Go(d)øya, å her, eller i alle fal på Sunnmøre he eg tenkt å ver til minst 7.August. På dei fire første dagane heime, he eg røkke å blitt med på fire fotballtreninga. Fått hengt masse at med familien og venner. Herlig start på ferien, uansett om oss til tiders gjenge gjennom dei fire årstidene på fleire gonga i løpet av ein dag. Men pytt sann!
Ser fram til resten av sommeren, å håpe å også å få jobb ein del, i år som i fjor, å åra før der igjen, so ska eg jobbe med klippfisk denne sommeren med!

Eksamenstid

No er der tid for eksamenslesing, eg har komet godt i gang føler eg, ikkje den beste studenten, men bra til å være meg ;)
Har eksamen 19 og 27 mai, regner med å være heime på Godøya ganske tidlig i Juni, so blir bra sommarferie!
Mitt blant lesinga tenkte eg skulle skrive ei liten oppdatering. denne gongen vil eg dela eit bar artiklar som eg fann på nettaviser

Den først er om at sjokolademelk faktisk er veldig bra når man trener, ofte betre enn dyre sportsdrikker. So endelig he eg fått ein grunn til å forsvare min O`boy drikking, som det blir ein del av i løpet av ei veke! Både før og etter trening, har ikkje prøvd å drukke det under trening. I en anna artikkel so las eg litt om alderdom, å ka ti en merka at ting gjenge nedover!
”alderdomstegnene blir merkbart tydeligere etter at vi runder 27 år.”
Sia sist oppdatering, so he eg hatt bursdag, å he faktisk blitt 27 år, tru det den som vil!
Å her er kva eg fann i artikkelen om det: ”For tre parametere i undersøkelsen - psykisk visualisering, hvor fort man tenker, og resonering - ble resultatet merkbart dårligere når testpersonene hadde bikket 27 års grensen.”

Shantaram

Det skjer ofte at eg og vennar diskutere om kva land som vi har løst å besøke. Ein spennande diskusjon der mange land blir nemnt, å når eg hører kva andre svarar og kvifor, so hørest det ofte so spennande ut, at eg også vil dit. Eg ein del land eg har løst å besøke, men det variere stadig kva land som eg vil til neste gang. Det er liksom ikkje so klart som Bjørn og Tiger hadde det på barne-tv for ein del år sidan, dei ville til Panama, som var draumelandet deira.
Etter nyttår so he eg sett ein del filmar på kino, men om eg skal anbefale ein, so vil eg sei Slumdog millionaire. Ei utrulig bra, spennande, med humor og hjerte varm film om ein fattig gut frå slummen i Mumbai. So he du ikkje sett den, so må du sjå den! I vår he eg ikkje lest so masse, men he no endelig blitt ferdig med murstein boka Shantaram, ei bok på heile 932 side. Ei spennande bok om ein mann frå Australia, som klare å stikke av frå fengsel, å som til slutt hamna i India å Mumbai. Boka med sine mange side, blir faktisk aldri kjedelig, den he so mange utrulige historie. Ting som frihet, fattigdom, livsglede, kampen mellom det gode og onde, kjærleik, kva eit menneske tåler og valg er viktig tema her. So les denne! Akkurat no, etter å ha sett filmen og lest boka, so he eg verkelig blitt fasinert over India. Det virka som at India er eit spennande land, med veldig variert kultur. Å at folka som bor der verkelig kan glede seg over livet og til å la andre føle seg som heime.So kanskje blir det India eg skal reise til neste gang? Eller kanskje blir det Afrika eller Sør-Amerika igjen? I sommar he eg i alle fall plana om å ver på Sunnmøre heile sommaren!

Det er ikkje mange veke til eksamen no, å da må eg prøva å bli litt flinkare student, å sete litt mindre på internett. Å eg skal klare å prioritere skulen litt meir no framover, slik at eg kan gjøre det best mulig. Men skal også få tid til trene og henge at med vennar, det er viktig ;) Som eit ordtak henta frå Håvamål sei det: Har du en venn du tror på besøk ham ofte, for det gror kratt og høyt gress på den vei som ikke vandres

Ei strålandes påske!

Etter 11 herlige daga heime på Godøya, er eg nå tilbake i Oslo. Å klar for å bli ein seriøst student (viktig å ha mål:p) , fram mot dei to eksamena eg skal ha i Mai. Uansett so tenkt eg skulle skrive litt om påska, eller først å fremst vise legge ut litt bilde!
Eit av høgdepunkta vå so klart når Godøy for første gang spelte kvalikk til cupen, der møtte dei Langevåg, som dei til slutt slo 6-5 på straffe, etter 2-2 i ordinær tid! Å med 100 tilreisande Godøyingar, som storma bana i vill jubel, so vå dette absolutt nokke å få med seg! Spennande å sjå kven dei møter i neste runde!

Det blei også tid masse tid i lag med familie og vennar. Er alltid godt å komme heim å treffe folk igjen. Var blant anna på bowling tre gongar i løpet av påska, der gjekk det litt opp å ned! Fekk ver masse onkel, trene, rangle og ete mange familie middagar! Rett å slett ei kjempe flott påske

Trondheimstur

For eit par veke sidan, so var eg på helga besøk i Trondheim. Eg budde på eit fint ”vertshus, der eg både fekk godt selskap, seng og mat. Eg besøkte Eivind, ein som eg gjekk på Hald at med, å so klart so blei det også masse henging i lag med forloveden has, Anne Margrethe. Det er ikkje so lenge sia dei forlova seg, so blei ein del bryllaups prat den helga. Her kan du gå inn å lese meir om bryllaups planlegginga.

Det vå veldig kjekt å få møte Ragnhild igjen, å sjå korleis ho hadde det. Eg, Eivind, Ragnhild og Anne Margrethe var på fredagen på Egon tårnet elle Tyholttårnet. Der åt vi mat, sidan Egon har ein restaurant der i tårnet. I tillegg til veldig bra utsikt, so gjenge restaurant golvet rundt, slik oss fær sjå heile Trondheim. Absolutt en ting å få med seg.På laurdagen var eg og Eivind å såg på verdscup i skiskyting, der Ole Einar vann…. So klart!Elles blei det tid til både møte, spilling (eg vann ikkje i ligretto denne gangen eller) og kino (såg Menn som hater kvinner, ein film eg likte veldig godt).
Fekk prøve både natt og dag buss til/frå Trondheim, vil anbefale dag buss. I alle fall for dei som har problem med å søve på buss. No har eg påskeferie, å gler meg veldig masse til å komme heim, skal bli ein god ferie:)Satsar på å oppdatere bloggen i påskeferie også!

Bryllaup

Nå er det lenge sida eg har oppdatert, snart 3 måna sidan sist! Skal prøve å oppdatere oftare enn ein gang i kvartalet :p Det er masse som har skjedd sidan sist, både eksamenar, juleferie, nyttår, sosialt, praksis, skule, bursdagar og masse meir. Men det eg vil blogga om denne gangen er Bryllaupet eg var i sist Laurdag. Nemlig til min søster Mona, som giftet seg med Christian.

Laurdag vå den store dagen, opp litt tidligare enn vanlig, sia eg fann ut at det tek litt lengre tid å ha på seg ein bunad, enn ein dress. Men eg klarte det til slutt, å kom i kyrkja i god tid.Dei giftet seg i Ålesund kirke, veldig fin vielse, på ein dag der våren hadde kome til Sunnmøre, til og med sol. Etter på samla dei nærmaste til middag og litt is, før både andre i familien og venner kom til festen, med koldtbord og kaker. Dette blei ein veldig fin dag, med mange gode taler, videoar og hyggelig selskap. Her er litt bildar frå dagen.

Søndagen gjekk med på å rydde å transportere ting. Sidan der vå så masse kaker, så blei det reste selskap på kvelden. På kvelden fekk eg og min bror ansvaret for å legge Mads. Dette var kjekt å få prøve seg på, å oss fekk no både gitt han kveldsmat og lagt han til sengs. Ok, det blei litt seinare enn vanlig, men slik er er det når han er veldig våken å heller vil leike med onklane enn å søve ;) Mads og brudern

The future

In the move Forest Gump, we get to hear this famous saying “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." What does the future bring?

Some times talks we have, goes into what the future is going to be. What am I doing in ten years? Where am I? What are my dreams? Have I changed much? Who will I be, will I still be me? How will my dreams change? Should I worry about the future today? But if I hade the chance to know, would I want to know?

Einstein said it “I never think of the future. It comes soon enough”.
I am sure I will think about the future later in my life. I think it is fun sometimes to think, and maybe also discuss with people. About how they see the future, what are their dreams? Not because I think it will be exactly like I think it will. But because I think it is interesting, and also to see how my thought about the future change. They are for example different from five years ago, and I am sure in a couple of years, I will have different dreams for the future.

I like what Einstein says, “it comes soon enough.

Mrs. Gump says in the Forest Gump movie “You have to do the best with what God gave you”. I like that; we can never to more than our best. And also that God has given us special talents, which he wants us to use. So I will try to use mine, and do my best.

In Psalm 32, 8 we get this promise: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you! This is a bible verse that I really have enjoyed lately, and it makes me relax more about the future. To know that God will guide me and have his eyes upon me, gives me peace.

I will end with a thing that one of my friends often says, and that I really like “The most important is not who you are going to be or where you are going or! But who you are, where you are now!”

Island in the sun

Last week I spent at home at Godøya, the Island in the sun. I had such a nice time at home, so good to meet my family and friends again. My nephew Mads has grown a lot, and he is very active now, he is rolling here and there. And I am sure he soon going to crawl around the place, maybe the next time I am at home?

On Saturday I got to watch the last home match of my football team this season, they lost this time. But still they have had their best season ever, they ended at 5th place in the 3 division, I am really impressed. Since it was the last home game, the celebrated with giving the supporters some cake.

One thing I really like with being home, is that the “tempo” is quit slower than in Oslo. When I go to shop, I will use much time, since there is so many people I know, even when I was jogging I had to stop to talk to people. And to be close by the ocean, so lovely. I also got to go for a youth evening. On Monday I went for a place to try a “bunad”, so maybe I will get to the next 17 of May, which would be cool.The only thing I did not manage, was to take the ferry, but since there is no svele, I can wait until I go back next time:p

In My Life

Again it have not been so good at ordaining my blog, it has been three weeks since last. I have thought about it, but I always think: I will do it tomorrow. Today I will write some, instead of waiting for tomorrow!Since my last update I have done a lot, and instead of writing about everything I will put in more pictures than usual at the end. Pictures say more than thousand words, or something like that!We have had a Hald evening since both Tais and Marte was in town, I have been to Tusenfryd two times. One with my cousins, where we also had breakfast together. And one time together with some friends. People I know have been visiting Oslo, and have had “bed and breakfast” in our apartment. I have been to Kirk Franklin concert, seen Wall-E at the cinema. Been and said farewell to Holmenkollen.

School is also going good, have been a much better student this last week. And I also have to, I am going to have a small test on Friday, and the followings weeks I have two book reports and one small paper to hand in, but I think that will go ok. My practice works is still good, and I am really enjoying it, and getting a little bit more responsibility than last year.

I have a loot to look forward to, tomorrow I and Stine, Per and Merete are going to see the Ylvis show. Next weekend I am going home, I am really looking forward to that, to see my family and friends. To see a football game with my team, to go to a youth evening in the bedehus. So that will be a good weekend!

Here, there and everywhere

One of my new friends here in OsloYeah, this is the name of a Beatles song, a group that I always have liked, and lately I have listen to this song and another one called, “in my life”, not the most famous songs from the Beatles maybe? But I really liked them.

Another reason than I have chosen this as the headline for this post is that I many ways feel like I have been here, there and everywhere lately. Time flies here in Oslo, I have started school (I have had a slow start there, since I have started just one of there subjects), I am back working at Grønland church with youth work (It is really interesting, and I thin the fall will be good). Also there are so much things happening of social things, visiting friends, birthdays, Hald evenings, “moving in parties”, playing football with friends and more. So I often go here there everyday. Almost like I have been everywhere since I came here to Oslo;)

We have also started to get the apartment a little more “homely”, have been to IKEA and bought some things.

One thing that I am really enjoying is that is quiet here, I do not hear the traffic and little of the neighbours. I miss to have forest, sea or green are, you feel a little “crushed” here in the middle of the town. Still, so fare so good!

End of summer

Now the summer is over, tomorrow I am back to school again.I have had a great summer back home, spending time with time with family, friends, working and training. And also driving to Oslo to move, and than spending 5 days in a konfirmasjon-camp with youths from Oslo in Fredtun FHS in Stavern.

Back in Norway

My last days in Brazil I spent in Rio de Janeiro, it was good to visit my father. It was good to sometime together with him and his girlfriend and her family. The weather was not the best the days I was there, but at least I got time to visit the Jesus statue. Except that I mostly just relaxed.
After over 26 hours with plain, over 26 hours with bus and some hours waiting in the airports, I am back in Norway. I spent one day in Oslo, before I went home to Godøya. On Saturday I went to a wedding, my Cousin Ole Johan got married to Karin. It was a really nice wedding, and nice to meet the big family again.

End of tour the Brazil

I am now back in Rio de Janeiro, after traveling Brazil and visiting Tais, Mateus, Rafaela and Leonardo the last two weeks. It has been interesting weeks, and I am really glad that I decided to take the trips to their places and to meet them in their “real life” outside Hald. I feel that I know them better now, and of course that I can understand more about the culture that they come from.

One thing that I have really have learned is that Brazil does not just have one culture, and it is no easy to defined or see how is a Brazilian or not. I think it is interesting to have gotten the chance to see some of the variety inside the Brazilian culture.
One thing that at least is the same culture at the places I have been is that people have been so nice, open their homes for me and taken care of me. I feel I have a lot to learn when it comes to being such a good host when people come to visit.

I spent the last days in Leo in Porto Alegre. I had a good stay with him, meet his friends, his godparents and saw him in action at his work. I was also so lucky that I got to meet his girlfriend and her family. They are going to get married at 1 of November, and I am sure that they will be a lovely couple in the church that day. And it would be so fun if I could be there with them, I am not sure I will be able to come, but we never know what the future brings. So we can at least have hope;)

I have now four more days in Brazil, so I am going to spend with my father and his girlfriend Angela, and here family in Rio. Hopfully also see some of the famouse places here.

Joinvile, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre

I went to Joinville to visit Rafaela, I got to meet her family, friends and here boyfriend Breno. On Saturday we went to a hill, where we had a good view over the city, it was really beautiful; U can see a picture from it under.

At the same evening we went to a meeting where Breno had a speech, before we went to a party for Rafaela’s brother. I also got a Vasco da Gama shirt with here older brother, since he meant that this is the team I should support in Brazil.I liked the city really much and felt really welcomed it both Rafaela and Breno`s family. I event got to practices my German, since there is so many people with German background here.On Sunday we drove to Florianópolis where they are studying, we went to a birthday party for friends of theirs. On Monday I went together with Rafaela to her work, she is an English teacher for small children, she did a good job, and enjoyed sing a long with the children. Later I went together with a Gustavo, a friend of Rafaela to a see some of Florianópolis. I got to see some beautiful places, try to sand boarding /surfing (it is funny that I try to sand boarding before snowboarding :P hehe) and later on I also played some futsal (it was really fun and I got really tired after it).

On Monday evening I took the bus to Porto Alegre, where I arrived half pas six in the morning. Here I am visiting Leonardo, and I am going to be here until Friday, before I go back to Rio de Janeiro. Yesterday he and his friends showed me the city, took some pictures, and I liked this best.

Today I am going to his university and see where he studies, and than tonight it is time for the big football match between Brazil and Argentina, I am looking forward to see that. Tomorrow we are going to see another city nearby, before we are going to visit his wife to be and her family.

Sorocaba and Curitiba

My Brazilian Hald tour started with a nine hours bus drive from Rio de Janeiro to Sorocaba, where Tais lives. On Saturday we went to a Japanese day in their church, they had food, sweet, dances, songs and more from Japan, so it was really interesting. I also got to play tennis for the first time together with her father and brother on Sunday, I liked it.

I also got to spent time with her family and friends, not so many speak English, but with some body language and some words in Portuguese or English, it works out well. I really enjoyed my stay there. And it was nice to meet here again, and see how she lives. at the same time it is strange to think it is one years since Hald ended, and we last meet.

On Tuesday I took a six hours bus drive from Sorocaba to Curitiba, where I am now visiting Mateus, how I shared rooms with at Hald. This is a city that lies around 1100 meters over the sea level, so in the first night it was down to 3 degrees, but during the day it is warm. On Wednesday we went first to a beautiful park, before we went to a place where they sold barbecue food, since all the Brazilians are talking about there barbecues. We could eat choose between many different kinds of meet, and eat as much as we wanted, just for around 30 NKR. It was really good. Yesterday we went to visit some of his friends, and watched the Brazilian cup final. Going to stay here until tomorrow, when I will take the bus to Joinville and meet Rafaela

A long day!

I started my travel on Wedsday around 14.00 from where I lived, 0500 I was in Brasil (they are 5 hours behind). Now the clock is half past 1 night to Friday, and I have sleept maybe a hour or two, and still I am awake:p I just wanted to wriite a little blogupdate.
Today I have been in Rio de Janeiro, it is hot here, also during the night, luckely they have air condition here. Hehe I am at the house where my father lives, he is not here, but his Brazilian girlfriend and her family is, nice people. I also got to go a little trip alone on Copacabana, the famous beach!
Tomorow I am starting a little Brazilian Hald tour, I am first going to Sorocaba to visit than Mateus in Curitiba, Rafaela in Joinville hope to spent 3 days with each, and maybe some days with Leonardo in Porto Alegre. And I hope also to meet Leandro in Sao Paulo on Monday.And then the last six (or so) I will use in Rio de Janeiro, my father will arrive here while I am on my tour.

Summer holiday

Finally I have finished my last exam and also done my task at my practice place, so now I have summer holiday. This school year has gone so fast, it is crazy:p
I have had a good first year, I like the school and the studies, epically the practice part of it. Of course I can still become better to study;)
From the fall I am going to live together with Per in new apartment, so I am looking forward to that Thomas and Paullete
The last weeks I have done many things, been at home, reading, training, hanging with my friends. The pictures is from when Paulette where in Oslo, and we had a little Hald evening.

Two days after my last exam I am going to Brazil, and are going to stay there for three weeks, I am really looking forward to that, going to visit my father in Rio, and also hoping to travel at meet some of the my friends from Hald last year.

I have now finished two of my exams, have one to go, (not before 2 of June). I think the first when ok, but you never know before you get the grad out.
I still have practice work every week and Grønland, but I like that work, so I am enjoying it.
The weather here in Oslo is very beautiful, with sun and around 20 degrees, so since I now this weekend I am going to enjoy it, since I don’t have read so much.

Last week I was at home, to meet my nephew and my family, it was great, and I am also going home to celebrate the national day, and also to watch the local football derby between Godøy and Valder.

15 days after the term, Mona and Christian became parents for the first time on Tuesday 22 of April, to a lovely boy. He was over 5000 grams and 55 cm long, a big man already. His name is Mads, and he is my first uncle kid, and of course I am very proud. And I am looking forward to meet him next week, when I am going home for a trip!
Congratulate to proud parents and of course grandparents and all others;)

His father and his grandma (my mother) has dream that Mads is going to become a football player, where he first is going to play some seasons as captain for Godøy, before afterwards signs for Man Utd. Me and my brother will of course use be happy if he signs for Tottenham also;)

Eastern Holiday

Want I want for the Easter holiday was: to spent time with my family and friends. Go to some meetings and also attend some football training. And that was exactly what I did, so I am really happy with my holiday.
I came back on Friday the 14, then my sister had her birthday, and we also celebrated my brother and mother birthday (6 of march). So it was a big family party, a really good evening. I don’t have any picture from that evening. But a week later, some of my cousins went together for pizza and bowling. We had a great time, and it was epically fun to divide up in team and play against each other. One of the teams one, after a dramatic last throw (there where shoe throwing in the "picture" at the last throw!

At home, there have now been meetings at the bedehus, for many weeks, and everyday many people are coming. It was really good to attend some of them, and to feel and see how are enjoying there time there. Had many good meeting, where we got to worship God and listen too many good speaks. Also really especially to see Passion of the Christ together with so many youths. Can read more here

I was lucky to get to attend four football training and to watch one football match. I found out that I have a loooong way to go when it comes to training. But I had a blast, especially with the snow rugby and indoor football.
I am back in Oslo now, trying to be a good student. Papers and exam is soon to be on the calendar. Of course I still have my practice work, and I hope that I will be better to train. On Saturday I am going to go and watch Vålerenga-Ålesund, and there is also many other thing happening here in Oslo in the weeks to come. But what I look mostly forward to, is to become an uncle, not so long before that happens:)

A week in London

Last week I spend in London, together with my class and some teachers. It was an educational trip, where we visited differed kinds of churches, too so different ways of doing youth work.We lived really central, at Piccadilly backpackers, not the best hostel, but good enough! Of course it was a little crowdie to be 6 boys on a small room, but is was also fun! I would say it was a really good trip, I learn a lot from the different visits we had, and also very inspiring for me as a youth leader, too meet so many different kind of good leaders.I hope that I will be able to use some of it in our youth work.The trip was also very good in the way, that we good to know the people in the class better, so many nice people. And they made it a very good trip, and I am looking forward to meet all of them after the Easter holiday.
In London I also was able to meet some people.I meet Sany (a girl from Brazil, going to Hald this year), Margrethe and Christoffer (my Cousin and here boyfriend). And on Sunday I meet my host parents I had in Uganda, and there son. It is always nice to meet good friends, especially people you don’t meet so often. And I was really lucky that my former host parents were in London the same week as me. The world is small:p
A funny story at the end. The people that know me, knows that I am not a good sleeper. I often go to bed late, and I get up early. And especially if I sleep in room with other, I usually early, and of course this happened every day in London…. Except on Monday.The last day, we where going to meet half past nine, so we could sum up the trip, before we check out before 10.We went to bed late, but I said I would wake people up before nine, and of course other one also set there alarms.But what happened, 2 min before we where going to meet downstairs, I woke up, and all the other boys where sleeping. So we hade overslept, and everyone had to pack there bags in a hurry. (I hade luckily showered and packed the night before).It was so strange since my alarm did not go off, and none of the other woke up before. One of the boys, says that he at 10 min to nine, woke up everyone, before he went to sleep again. But since no one remember that, I am no so sure about that. I at least think this story was funny, so I just laugh of it:p

Ski weekend and taco night

I went to Hafjell together with around 30 confirmants and 12 leaders. We where sleeping at a school, just 2-3 min walking from the ski tow. It was a great weekend, where we had a lot of time to spend together with the youths and to get to know them.
On Saturday I went together with a group to Indoor swimming pool, where there where 3 pools, a slide and a sauna. The cool thing was that you could see how fast you where down the slide, I was the fastest. (I think that was because I am the biggest and heaviest :p).
On Sunday I went with a group to use sled in the ski hill, it was so cool and fun. And the youth got tired of it before me:pThere where also some teaching, meetings, movie and other fun. And many good meals together:)

On Monday we hade a Hald taco and playing night, since Marte was in town, we where twelve people. The game we played (I don’t remember the name), me team lost. You win some you loose some:p it is always fun to spend time together with Hald people.

Bowling

Per is going to travel to Uganda on Thursday, he stopped a couple of days in Oslo, and today (Tuesday), he invited to a Hald-bowling evening. And it was really fun, Steinar won and showed us how to bowl. It is always good to be together again, at the same time, I also miss the rest of students. Next Monday Marte will be in town, and Eivind the weekend after. I also got to say hello to Hanne Liv when she was here during the weekend.
My dream is that one day all the students that went to Hald with me, will be together, all at the same time, once more.

I will just wish Per a safe journey to Uganda, I really hope that you will get a good time there, I wish I could go also, I miss Uganda. It is strange to think it is 10-11 months since I left Kampala! I learn a lot the time I spent in Uganda, and I am sure that someday I will go back to visit all my friends!

Here in Oslo it has been snowing a lot lately, and up where I live, the snow lies, at leas for some days. The picture above shows how it should have been for Christmas!

This Friday I went to something called Noche Loca, (crazy night), here they had many activities, such as, quiz, massage, hair cut, Guitar hero, lottery, a café and an American action.All the money the came in, went to a project in Ecuador. I hoped to win a trip to Ecuador on the lottery (I did not) but on the American Action I won/bought a Barcelona training shirt/jacket for 30 kr:)

On Saturday I went together with Oddveig and Wai to help Silje and Åsgeir to build there house, I did a lot of snow shovelling, but I also got to hammer and climb a little, so I enjoyed it! And I am looking forward to see the house went it is finished. On Sunday Oddveig had kakefest, since she has here birthday to day. Happy birthday! We ate cakes and plays Nintendo Wii. I was not good at playing the “guitar” :p in the evening I went and saw the newest National Treasure movie at the cinema, together with Stine. I enjoyed the movie, fun and exiting.

On Saturday morning, I was a little late, so I decided to jump of at one point, and run and take the underground. Yes, I know there was snow, yes I know it can be slippery, but I ran, and UP into the air I went, and of course down I came. As everyone the does such a foolish thing, I stood up straight away, trying to smile and laugh, luckily there was no one watching, and I was ok, except a little cut on my finger, some air went out of me, and a little less pride:p

That’s how a good weekend can be in Oslo ;)

I was siting on the internet, wondering what I should write on my blog. Should I write about what I have been doing since I came back to Oslo? or should I just put out some pictures.
But I wanted to tell a good story, but I did not know what do write about.

Today I bough a book called “Alltid elsket” by Kristina Reftel, I bought this book after reading Ingrid`s blog, and I asked where she had gotten the story from. I have just read some of it, and it is a good book. I also saw that the stories in the book, the author has collected from the internet, so I decided to check some of the pages mention. I found many wonderful stories. On this hompage, you can read one of my favourite stories. It is about a son and his father, a father that does everyhing for his child.

The calendar is now showing 2008 and a new year has begun. I am sure it will be a year where we can learn and experience much. What it brings I do not know, but I am ready;)

But this post is not going to be about this year, I will write some words about the old, about my Christmas holiday.I have spent much time with my family, both small family and larger. One of my favourite days of every year, is the day my grandma has here yearly family party, 26 of December. Then we are together around 40 uncles, aunts, cousins and children, we stay together for many hours, eating, talking and playing games, this year we played Risk.

I also spend at lot time with friends, visiting them, play games, watch movies, hang out football and much more. And at this time of year, almost everyone is at home, so you meet so many that you haven’t seen for a while.

I played in two football tournaments, one with Couzins, where we got to the quarter final, and one I played for Godøy 3 in a local tournament in the “Kommune” we ended second. So I was happy with those results.

There is also two big happenings for the youth at the church/bedehus, IUF-festen and New-year party, and it was fun to be at both.

I have really enjoyed these weeks at home, and I have hade time to do the things I wanted to do, and more. It was of course a little specially, since last year I celebrated Christmas in Uganda. New Year I celebrated in Nairobi in Kenya, now one year after there is big disturbance after the elections and many people has gotten killed or injured. Not a good ending or a star on a year, so the people living there will be in my thought and prayers.

I have now Christmas holiday, my last exam went ok. But it is hard to know before you get the grade. Of course I could have read more, I did not do such a great job there:p I also went for a “julebord” at Grønnland kirke, I had a really good time and the food was great. I talked to some people I did not know from before, and I just have to say that they have two really cool and good priest in this church. The next day I went to a party for students going to UKT (Ungdom, Kultur og Tro). That is what I am studying this year. It was nice to meet people outside the school, and get to know them better. In March me class is going for a 5 days trip to London.I also have to say that I cleaned my room in Oslo, before I travelled to Godøya!

On Wednesday I came back, and the first evening I visit some friends, and we had a bible group. I had a great evening, and I really miss to have such a fellowship in Oslo.
The next day I went for a spinning lesson, together with my football team, I haven’t trained so much this fall, so it were hard, but at the same time good:)

It doesn’t seem that it will be a white Christmas this year, of course you never know! But it is not so important for me, I am really looking forward to spend Christmas at home this year. Last year I had a different and good Christmas in Uganda. I am looking forward to spend Christmas together with my family and friends:) There is much I can say I am looking forward to, one of the first thing is Førjuls turneringa , that is a local football tournament, that has really become a good tradition. I am playing for a team called Couzins, together with my cousins;)

On the plan from Oslo to Vigra we flew over Jotunheimen, and all I saw was white snow, you saw the mountains going up and down, but snow covered it all. It reminded me of when we flew to Uganda last year, over Sahara, where it was only sand for a long while.Both places were beautiful!

London

I had a lovely trip to London, I went together with my brother and two cousins. Our main goal was to see Tottenham play home at White Heart Lane against Birmingham. I arrived a Thursday, and went and visited Marte, before I went into the town and meet Stig-Johnny. IF you want to read more about my visit with Marte, I have written more about it here. I would really advice you to visit Marte in London. On Friday we used the day to walk around in the town, and saw many famous places, and we also visited a Star Wars exhibition, I also got to meet Darth Vader:p Later we saw Hitman at the cinema, the same evening Nils-Ove and Daniel also arrived.

On Saturday we decide to find out if there was a musical we could go to, Marte also came into town, and took control, and we went and saw Lord of the Rings musical. I loved it, and think it was great. We also walk around i the town a littlebit, and the three others saw Beowolf on a 3d cinema.

On Sunday it was time for the football match, I was sure Tottenham was going to win. I was planning to by a team shirt, but I just both a scarf in stead. We found our places and where ready. The players came in, and we cheered, but after the first half, Birmingham was leading. In the first 15 minutes of the second half, Robbie Keane scored two goals, and now I was sure they where going to win. Than Birmingham scored, Robbie Kean got a red card, and at overtime, a Swedish player scored a great goal… for Birmingham :/ So Tottenham lost, but it was still a great experience. In he evening we ate at an Indian restaurant, really good food, before we took the desert at an Ice cream restaurant.

On Monday I stood up before the others, and went to see the castle, Hyde Park, Green Park and St.James Park, and this morning the sun were up and the sky was blue. I meet many squires and birds. Especially the Squirrels and Pelicans I enjoyed. And it was a really good end for my trip in London.

En liten historie

En liten gutt går på stranden med sin far en morgen. Stormen som var dagen før har stilnet, men tilbake på stranden ligger tusenvis av sjøstjerner som sakte, men sikkert tørker inn og dør. Den lile gutten plukker opp en enslig sjøstjerne og kaster den ut i vannet igjen. Faren sier: "Hvorfor gjør du dette? Du klarer aldri å redde alle uansett. Det betyr jo ingenting i den store sammenhengen." Den lille gutten svarer: "Nei jeg gjør ikke det, men for akkurat denne sjøstjernen betyr det alt i hele verden..."

Working for Hald

The last week I have been driving 2100 km. Why? I have been working for Hald Internasjonale Senter. I have been visiting 10 schools, where I have tried to get people to sign up for Hald next year. Kritisand- Gvarv in Telemark-Bergen-Stavanger-Oslo (and many other places). It was really interesting, and I also got to visit some people. In Bergen I meet Iris, Sandra and Anna-Lena, I want to thank them for housing me, and for a nice visit.In Stavanger I stayed with Ingrid parents, and I also got the house for myself. So thank you all!. I stopped to say Hi to Ole Johan and Ingjerd in Lyngdal, and that was very nice.

I did not bring my camera, so I do not have any pictures to show you. Today I have just rested, but the next days I have to finish two papers and hand them in on Wednesday.On Thursday I am going to London together with my brother and two cousins. On Sunday we are going to see Tottenham (my favourite team) play against Birmingham.And hopefully I will also get to meet Marte.I will of course bring my camera and put out pictures on the blog.

I did not have a map book, I just printed out maps from telefonkatalogen.no, where I saw how to get from a one place to another. The problem is that it is not so good, the maps are small and it doesn’t say which signs to follow. But usually I drove correctly, if I was not sure, I just stopped and asked. When I was going from Bergen to a place called Ølensvåg, the maps told me that I had to take two ferries. The first was easy to find, but the second one I did not find. So I stopped after driving around for a while, asked if somebody could direct me. The answer they gave me was this: There is a tunnel now, the ferry has been down for 3-4 years:pBut I got to all the places in time!!

I’m still alive

It is almost three weeks since I wrote about the water problem here in Oslo. It lasted under five days, and they found nothing wrong with it. So I did not get sick, and I can no drink water directly from the spring. By the way, boiled water is not so good.

This fall the time has just flown by, almost at Warp speed. I have talked to many people about it, and we have concluded that the time has started to go fast now. When we where children/younger, I remember that some days, for example Christmas Eve, went by sooooo slow. But now, the days flies by, even if you are having a great day with much to do, but also if you do nothing.

Since I am talking about time. Most of my fellow students say that they have so much to do, that the day should be loner, so they could to everything that they want to do, or at least have to do. People (also non students) are stressed, school, work, social activities, training, resting, making food, and more. It is too much to for one person, when we just have 24 hours day.But for me? I feel I have good time to do what ever I want, if it is to study, train, read, to be social or even to relax. So I wonder why is it like this? I have said that the time flies, but at the same time I have time to do the thing I want. And many people are having too little time.

When I am going to school, I have to take a buss ride; it takes around twenty minutes, than I like to read. Not school work, but books that I want to read. I read different kinds, but most of them have been in the Fantasy genre. But the book I have enjoyed most, and a book that has given me some thoughts is: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. A lovely book, easy to read, and the story is good. At the same times there is a lot of wisdom, or at least some ideas that you maybe can related to your life. About listening to your heart and follow your dreams.It at least got me start thinking for a while, I am nor sure a agree 100 % with him, about all. But still... And of course I liked the story!I really recommend this book, both for the story and also the idea behind it.

Water problem

Because of a parasite called Giardia and cryptosporidium here in Oslo, I have now to boil water. To use as drinking water for: food, brushing teeth and so on. We got the message today after I had finished eaten breakfast and brushed my teeth! And they say now that this parasite maybe has been in the water for some days. It will take around one or two week before you will get sick (if you get). I have as usually drunk a lot of water the last days.But I am sure I am not going to get sick:)

Of course I have bought some water, it was not easy since all the big bottles has been sold out. Think people has a little panic, but I will just boil some and put in the fridge!

Godøy in third division

Also my team Godøy ended their season on second place, so next year they are going to play in third division. I am so proud of them, they have done a really good season :)

Fantasi

Yesterday I was at a birthday party for a friend of mine, it was really nice to meet so many friends. We had a good time with cakes, salads and just talking.After some hours we decided to play a game, at first it was going to be a card game, but than it changed and we played a game called “Fantasi” in Norwegian. I am not sure about what it is in English, maybe imagination or fantasy.

If you do not know this game, I will explain it short: It is a board game, where you have cards with five categories/colours on each card. You play in teams, you role the dices and you land on a colour, and than you are going to mime or draw the thing/name/event that is on your card, and your team have to guess. You have 1 minute on each round. If people do not get what I am trying to mime at first, I am in big trouble, since I am not so good at this game:p

When we where going to decide the teams, one girl said: let’s play boys against girls”. We said ok, since girls is known to play this a lot, and are really good at it, we where the “Underdogs” and had nothing to lose. It was a close game, we changed at having the lead, halfway the girls where leading. But at the end we got the victory. We jumped up and cheered, we where glad:)

So maybe you are reading this, you are maybe wondering: Why does he write about this?Because I thought it was so fun to beat girls in “Fantasi” :)

Back to Hald

This weekend Me and Per went for a trip back to Hald. Of course it was a little bit strange to be there with out the rest of the last year. We met also Eline, Elise, Adreas and Paulette (she is now a ettåring). And it was fun to meet Faith and Pamela, the two girls the we meet at FOCUS when we were in Kampala. And I also got to talk to most of the teachers before they took their weekend break. So I got to have a little of last year :)

It was also fun to talk to the new Hald students, to hear what they where thinking about the time at Hald and about their stay abroad or in Norway. They looked like a good gang, so it will be fun to follow them true their blogs. I am sure that they will have a great time!

One thing I did not now that they had at Hald is a Sauna, and when I asked Agnar, he said he did not know before last week. So we have gone at Hald for one year, and missed the chanced to use the sauna.I will put a picture of the Sauna and some others from the weekend under:

Kay in Oslo

I have now been in Oslo for around 3 and half week. I have had a good start at my school and I think that the classes are really interesting. The second week my class went for a trip together, and that was a good way to get to know each other. One of the things I am looking forward to on this study is that we are going to work practical all the semesters. Soon we will get to know where we are placed, this first semester we are mainly using time to get to know the practice place, the people and the area.

I am living at a place called Brekke; it is a place north in Oslo. It is really near to Marka, which is really nice to go for a walk, jog, cycling and in winter skiing. I am planning to buy a bike, so that I can cycle there, it looks so fun.I live together in an apartment in the second floor in a house, together with two nice girls. So fare there has been no arguments:p

What else should I write? I went to see Norway beat Argentina 2-1, that was lovely :) I still don’t have internet at home, but that will come on Thursday. (But my computer is sent in to be fixed). On Friday I am going to Hald, the school where I went to last year. I am going to visit people I know prom Uganda and one girl I went to school with. So I am looking forward to that.

Road Trip

Me, Stine and Nils-Ove went on a Road Trip to Kristiansund, Atlanterhavs veien, some ferries trips, Trollstigen and Valdalen.. It was a really good trip.

Kristiansund was a really nice and koselig town, it was the first time I have ever been there.

The Atlanterhavs veien was incredible, so if you have a chance to go there, you should.
It was shorter than I thougt, but it was wort to go there. And next time I want to use more time, bring the lunsj and relax

Trollstigen I have been to before, and I really like it. If you dont know about it, look at the pictures below. Incredible road up the mountain, with a incredible wiev from the top.

On Saturday I am going to move to Oslo, are going to study there the next three years.
I do not have any pictures of the apartment yet (I havent seen it my self), but I will try to put out som pictures and write about my first days in Oslo next week.

A litttle update

I think it is now time put out a new post on my blog, is has been over a months since the last.In the last month I have spent my time at school, Hald Internasjonale Senter. It has been a great time, where we have had the chance to do some de-briefing, been on a couple of trips, classes and done many fun activities after classes.

At Saturday I am going home for a week, we (me, per and Stine) are going to do some information work at the schools in Giske Komune, and also have a meeting at Godøy Bedhus on Wednesday. We are going to talk about some of the things we have learn the period we stayed out. So I am looking forward to that, it will be a great experience. At of course I am looking forward to meet my family, friends and to go to a football training.

After that week we have less than two weeks at Hald, in many ways it will be sad to finish. Because I have gotten so many friends, from many different countries. To live together, so closely among so many different countries and cultures, and to see that we can bee such good friends. That is an experience everyone should have tried, we have so much to learn from each other. So I hope that this is something I can bring it to my life also in the future.Here are some pictures from the last month:

Uganda and Amsterdam

It has been a strange last week, so many people to say goodbye to, people you hope to meet again, but you never know where life brings you. The last days we spend at the camp centre to FOCUS, where they organized a mission camp from Thursday to Monday.Here is a picture from the camp and one from the farewell lunch we had with out host family.I do not have so much more to write about; because I thin the impression has to sink a little bit first

.I am now sitting in the Airport in Amsterdam, we have been a little trip into the town, since we (me and Per) had to wait for 9 hours for the plan to Oslo. So we use some of the time to go to see a little bit of Amsterdam, we was planning to visit the house of Anne Frank, but when we saw the long line, we gave up:p so we just walk a little around, a beautiful town.

It is strange to think than in 8 hours, I will be home. Strange

The End is near!

Maybe some will think that this is a negative title, but I do no see it as that. An end for something means a beginning for something else. I have now been in Uganda for almost six months, will I am sitting here and writing, it is strange to think that it is not so many days left, before I am going home, that this part of my life is coming to a end.I think it will be sad to leave behind the people you have gotten to know, the people from work, the students, the children at the project and my host family. At the same time I really look forward to see my family, friends, the people at school any many others that I haven’t seen for a loooong time.
There is a time for everything, there have been a time for living in Uganda, but I feel that now the time to go home is close. Someday I hope to come back to Uganda, to visit all the people that I got to know, and that I now call friends and my African family.

I have experience many things, good and bad. Some of the things I have written about on my blog, some I have shared with my family and friends back home. Some I have shared with the people in my team. Some I still have problem sharing, because it is hard to explain the impressions. Some I have to wait to I get back home to share.

The last weeks I have meet so many people that are thanking my (and of course the rest of team Kampala), blessing me and saying many good about me as a person. Telling us that we have done so much for them and that have given them so much joy.
It is so good to hear that, it is encouraging and it helps your self esteem.But at the same time, I in a way I fell “fake” or something. It is hard to explain, but I feel that I have not done so much, to deserve so much praise. I do not feel that I have done so much. I feel that I have learned and received much more that what I have given or learn away. We have so much back home in Norway, but still I feel that people here are much more happy and grateful for the things they have. And I also think there is much to learn from how people here, share the things that they have. Most of the people here has much less things, money and food than what we have back in Norway, and still they share much more and much easier.I would love to say that I am now going to do the same, but I think that the best I can say about my self, is that I am working on it, I really want to better to give and to share what I have.

Another thing is the culture different; there are so many different things in this culture compared with the Norwegian. I think I have managed to handle the culture different in a good way. I have found out that I am proud of my Norwegian culture, in the same time I see that there are things to learn from other cultures, or at least there are things that I want to learn.Because for me, the most important thing I have learn about culture is that: Culture different does not have to bee a bad thing, as long as people respect each others culture, and that we are different. It will be much easier. And also that my culture does not have to better or worse that your culture, it is just different.

If you are still reading this post, I know that this time it maybe has become a little to long and maybe a little persona. But this is what I wanted to share today.Since I haven’t written about what I have been doing the last week, I will end with showing some pictures from my week.

I am not looking forward to the end, but to the new start. I am not going to say good bye and have a nice life, I am going to say, until next time, look after your self.I am not looking forward to leave Uganda, but to come home.I really look forward to see you all again :)

Ice cream!

Diplom is

The picture you see above, is not taken in Norway, but at the nearest supermarket to where I live in Kampala. I have lived at this place for almost five months, and been to this shop many times, especially to buy water. But it was first last week I saw the big Diplom is paining on the freezer that they have their water. I wished really that there also could be some Diplom ice cream in it, because I think Norwegian ice cream is better than the local one, or the imported one, like nestle and other brands. But no ice, only water. But I am happy with that, since water is life:p And just to find a Diplom is freezer was really fun :)

Hot weather depressions

In Norway there is a lot talk about Winter depressions, the father north you live, and the more common this is. Winter depressions are when you life in a cold and dark environment during a period of time, and this effects your mood in a negative way.But what about hot weather depressions, the last months it has been really hot here (at least for me, and much sun. This is nice and good, sun makes people happy and in a good mood. This is a fact, or? Rules are meant to be broken. Because, I really have started to miss cold weather, rain, storm and what we call really good Sunnmørs vær. Because, you sweet when you sleep, you sweet when you go to and from the office. When you come back and a really tired, and you lie down on the bed to sleep, you finds it is too hot to sleep, and you sweet. And I also wake up, early because of the heat. Hot weather depressions are hard.By the way, it is up to you as a reader to decide how serious you will take this post. Depends on how good you now me. :p Just remember If you are happy, I am happy.

Travelling

This weekend I travelled to Soroti, with four others, but this time I was the only one from Team Kampala. It is good to travel, and I have done a lot here in Uganda. Hopefully I am finished with travelling now, I just want to stay in Kampala and in Gerenge (the camp site), the last week, and enjoy the time.

Culture what?

The last weekend me, Aina, Eddie, Faith and Brian travelled north to Lira, a town around five hours from Kampala. (Per was back in Kampala and Ingrid was in Kenya).
We had their training on voluntary staff on Saturday and on Sunday we visited a CU at a University around 45 min from Lira. We had a lot of program during the weekend, so we did not have time to see so much of the town. I got to visit on of my “host brothers” at the place he works, so that was nice.

Care-Groups is something I have worked with almost every week since I came here. So maybe I should tell something about that. That is a group that should have between 3 and 12 members, so we can also say it is small groups. This groups is a part of the CU (Christian Union) at the university, and is one of the ways FOCUS works. We help the different Care-Group leaders with training and information. One of the most important ting is bible study, but also other things as training/talking about important issues like: HIV/Aids, leader training and other subjects that is important for youths.

We also have had some individual talks about reversed culture shock with a counsellor working closely with FOCUS, and tomorrow we are going to have a training all four of us. I do no think that I will have any culture shock when I go back home. We have had two counsellors working with FOCUS since we came, and both have been talking about it is a bigger shock, going back, than coming here. But as stubborn as I am, I still have a very hard time believing it, to be honest I do not see the possibility for me getting a culture shock when go home :p

A book that I had problems letting down, but I had to, because it gave me so many ideas to think about, And with many quotations from Braveheart, it had to be a good book :p

Zhongfu

This is my new football shoes, bought them on a marked in Mbale. Yesterday I was on my weekly football training, and since it started raining heavily, I was glad I had football shoes instead of just ordinary jogging shoes. After the first training with my new ZhongFu, I am pleased with my shoes, my first Chinese shoes. The people I play football with are, from 10 to 45 years old (or something like that), men and women. From Denmark, Finland, Norway and Switzerland. Not very serious, but I like, it is good to kick the ball a little bit.

From Friday to Monday, we were on a little tour, visited Tororo, Mbale and Sortti.We did some training for FOCUS staff and associates. Hade a good time, and met many nice and interesting people. On Saturday me, Per and Aina visited Eivind and Thomas in Mbale. In the picture above you find the four playing Ligretto, Aina won, I lost and got minus 50 or something :pThey also made waffles and we also got to “brunost” put on. My first brunost since I came here in October, it was soo good :) So thank you guys! It was nice to visit them.When we where going back from Sorotti on Monday, we where going to stop in Jinja to have a training there also, but since we had some car problem we came to late. First we had to find and change a tired. Than the radiator got to hot, and we had to stop in a town and fix it, since it also had a leak. But at the end we came back, and I hade some good days. Next Saturday the plan is to go to Lyra, after that I think the plan is to stay for the most in Kampala.Under you can see a couple of pictures of the car problem.

Safari

Safari Last week me, Per, Aina and Ingrid and here parents went to Mourchison (Or something:p) Falls, one of the national parks in Uganda. It is around 5 hours drive from Kampala. We used some hours since our driver, had do help his son out of jail (but that’s another story).We slept in tents two and two, but they where big, and we even had beds, in the night we heard animals walking outside the tent, they said that sometimes there came a leopard inside the camp during the night. And also a hippo was usually walking around, but I did not see any of those, so I think it just was the wart hogs that stayed in the camp. E really beautiful animal… Or maybe not, you can decide for your self.

On Thursday we hade first a 4 hours drive in the park, where the driver raised the roof on the car, so we could stand and take pictures. There where so many animals to see, specially different kinds of birds, monkeys and Antelopes we got to see much of. After some driving around, we found there lions, they where walking around the car, and I think we got around five minutes with them, lovely. Than a little later we also met around twenty elephants crossing the road 30 meters in front of the car, was especially cool to see the biggest elephant, he stopped and looked at us, while the rest of the elephants crossed the road. When he saw that they where all safe over, he just turn around and walk after them. Then we saw some giraffes, water buffaloes, a hippo and many other.Later on the same day we went on a boat ride, a liked it very much. We saw many hippos, some crocodiles and many of the animals we saw earlier. I liked seeing the elephants eating from the tree. The trip was on three hours, we saw also a fall. Which we the next day, when for a little walking safari, it was really beautiful.

So I can say that I really enjoyed being on the safari, I think if I have to choose, I will say that the elephants and the lions was my favourite. We did no see any leopards that were an animal I really wanted to see.

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heaven

Planning meeting
Last weekend we use to be in a planning meeting with some other Focus staff, we discuss who they can have a better impact on the different campus this year. What Focus can do have a bigger and better impact on the students. We made a quit a lot of plans, but most is after we will leave, so we were mostly just listening. But it was three long days.

Teaching
On that Saturday I also was teacher for a lesson at the children pros jet, I where in Class 4 (the oldest class). I had Health class, and I these day Emotions and Health was the theme, and I was going to teach them about psychosomatic illness. Quit a theme to start your teacher carrier with, there where so many hard word that I have problem (or could not) explaining I Norwegian and even pronouncing in Norwegian. But with some in advance reading and studying in the book I got, I think it went ok. At least I know some more about Psychosomatic illnesses.

Bible camp
Then I and the rest of the Team Kampala have been on a bible camp for six days in Gerenge (the camp sit to FOCUS). There was only around 25 persons (some days even under 20), but that was a good thing, it made it to a camp without stress. So I had some nice days. Everyday we had bible exposition about the Gospel of Mark, and I thought this was very interesting, and I learn a lot. There are so many more things you will find when you really dig deep into the text, and of course when you work together with other, and have a good teacher and access to different bible helps. We had also some other seminar, games and good time to rest and take a swim in Lake Victoria.

What to come:
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday these week, we are going to a Safari, it is something a really look forward to. I have heard that the national park we are going to have at least, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, many birds and some beautiful water falls. In my next blog I will of course write about this trip.
Than the two weekends we (us four Norwegians and on of our bosses) are going to visit some universities in some other districts.
So it will be quit a lot of travelling in February.

ROCKY SIX
I hade to also say some few words about these movie, because I have loved the Rocky series, may except number five (For the people that do not know, Rocky is a movie(s) about a boxer called Rocky, and is played by Sylvester Stallone). So what can I say about the movie? I will just say that I liked it and, that I have to see the other Rocky movies again. If you the other Rocky movie, I recommend that you also see this.

Grip dagen/Carpe Diem!

Mitt store ”mål” her i live var lenge å bli 1.80 m høg. Elles har eg tatt ting som dei har komet.

Men eg blei aldri 1.80 m høg,. Dette va mitt ”store” mål fordi ein eller anna sa til meg for mange år sidan, at ein neste måtte være minst 1.80 for å spille midtstoppar, som eg gjerne ville bli. Nå har eg funne ut at fotball ikkje er det viktigaste her i livet (men kanskje det viktigaste av dei uviktige tinga?), eg bli aldri nokon ny Gary Mabutt og forresten eg har også funnet ut at eg likar betre å spele på høgre back.

Kva er eller kva bør være mitt store mål her i livet? Kva vil eg bruka livet mit til?

Dette er tankar som eg har brukt masse tid på i dei siste vekene. Eg har aldri stressa med slike ting, eg har alltid valt det trygge og kjente når eg har valt skuler og slike ting før.
Eg angrar ikkje på vala mine så langt i livet, eg er rett og slett nøgd :)

Men nå føler eg at eg har komet til det berømte vegskiljet her i livet. At nå må eg ta eit val.
Men kva skal eg velje?
Kva skal eg bli? Skal eg studera til hausten? Skal eg jobba? Kva skal eg studera/jobba med?

”Gud har ein plan med det liv”, det er noko som eg og har tenkt på, dette er også noko som eg trur på. Samtidig når eg tenker på det, so dukkar dei same spørsmåla opp da. Kva og kor vil Han at eg ska bruka livet mit til?
Ein anna ting, er at eg trur at Gud også har ein backup plan for både meg og deg, at så lenge eg er villig, så kan han bruka meg uansett kva eg velje å studere, jobbar, reiser eller bur.

Eg har alltid sett på meg sjølv som ein person som klarer å sjå positivt på det meste.

Masse tankar her, å eg veit ikkje om ein blog er den rette plassen og dela dei med folk.
Men eg håpar at kanskje nokon vil komme med litt forslag til meg, til kva eg bør satsa på her i livet, korleis eg kan gå fram for å finne ut kva eg vil eller berre anbefalingar.

Why is it suddenly so quiet in the morning?

When I came back from the children camp, there was something missing in the morning, I am nor sure what, but I slept very good, and nobody or thing woke me up in the middle of the night. The same happened the two next days, before I started to wander where the rooster had gone. I asked the people in the house if it was the rooster that we had eaten the day before, but it was not it. A little bit later into the supper I heard my good friend, the rooster crow, but not from outside, but from the garage!!!!In the night the goat also get to come into the garage, but in the day, he gets to go out again, but the rooster has to stay in the garage all day long.

So what I am wondering now is “What is the rooster doing in the garage?
a) Are we going to slaughter it soon and eat it?
b) Have the family put it here, because it wakes me up so early?
c) Is the rooster watching the car?
d) Have the turned the garage to a pet house?
e) Or is there another explanation? And what is it?

Another animal is the Turkey. First off all, he are not allowed to get into the garage, not in the day and not in the night, he has to go outside all day long. At least a couple of times during the last week I have said to Per “This Turkey, he is a stupid, stupid animal”. But why do I say this about a innocent animal???Ok, in the morning when I am going to take a shower, I go out, and see this animal standing knocking his bill (nebb) against the car. When I am going to work, he is still doing it.When I come back from work, he is still on it. When I come back from my run, he is still knocking.

People says to me that the reason is that he sees him self in the car (like a mirror), and therefore he knocks the reflected image. I can buy this explanation, which he thinks he sees another turkey, but still, when he does this all day long, day after day, he must get the point soon. (And some times the car alarm start in the middle of the night, and then I often hear this animal, so I think maybe he also in the middle of the night, goes at start knocking on the car).I know it is not nice to call somebody or something stupid, so I am really sorry for calling this Turkey stupid, maybe I should just say “this less intelligent animal”

Nordic Sportsday

Today I have been on the Nordic Sporstday here in Uganda. There were both competition sports and just social sports. Since Norway had a quiet small group, I had do been en many of the activities, but that’s was fine with me. Denmark had at least three times as many participants as Norway, and Sweden twice.I ran 3,6 Km (Norway came 1,2 and 5 (me :p), than almost everyone swam 300 meters, before I was in the Norwegian swimming relay team, sadly we came last there. In the football we lost again a Danish team, beat Sweden two times, and beat another Danish team, so that was fun. Good to play some football again. I scored two goals, of course it is not so serious, and the level was not so high, but it is always fun to put the ball in the goal :pThan in the Running relay race and the tug of war Norway came second. Overall Denmark won, Sweden second and Norway third.The most important it not to win, but to compete ;)

I hade a great day, got to meet many new people, and got to do a lot of training, and I really need that:p and I liked very much to play football again. And there are some Danish abased people that are training every Tuesday nearby, so I could join them, so that is really great.

Children camp

I am sitting writing this blog, when I really should have been sleeping, because I have trouble holding my eyes open today. But as often before, when I am really tired, I manage to everything else except sleeping, for example: writing a blog. (That I am not going to publish before tomorrow, and therefore could have written it than). It will be good to sleep long tomorrow.The Infield course ended at Sunday, and of course we did not sleep so much there and then straight to the Focus’s children camp from Monday to Thursday. At there we have to stand up before 6.Am and than I had to take the kids for a jogging trip, in the evening they where very awake, and did all other things than sleep (does it sound familiar? :p).

But if you have a good time, you don’t need so much sleep, and I hade a god time. And is also very giving to see the children so happy, and to see they are really having a good time, who need sleep than. There are many things to tell about the camp, everything from swimming in the Victoria Lake to all the different seminars we had.I will just write short about two things I remember wellthe first was when they where going to have a “street” dancing contest between the to kids pros jet that was on the camp. (FOCUS and another nearby pros jet). I have seen this kids dancing in the evening early at the camp, and they can really dance. But suddenly now, nobody wanted to dance, everyone sat there. So I thought: “Yeah, Yeah. If I go a dance, people will get a good laugh, and see that they can at least do better than this crazy Mozungo”, so I went and “challenged” one of the leaders from the other pros jet. And we where going to street dance against each other.I do not know who won, because luckily for me, he is the only one I have meet from Uganda ( and many other countries), that is almost as poor as me at dancing :p But people laugh and had fund, and we did also.Sometimes you just have to swallow your pride, and be a little crazy:p
(I haven’t got any picture from the dance yet, but I shall try to get and put it out)The second was when we where make chapaties, they where going to make around 250, and they where planning to use a couple of hours or so, but it took much longer, think they started before six pm, and finished around 1.Am. Why they did use so long time? I do no knowbut I used the opportunities to take some pictures and films, and of course also try to make it my self. So I think I will try to make some after I go back homehere is a picture of me in action.And thirdly (I know I wrote to thing, but this is still the third)It is good to see how people here in Uganda, sings and moves at church and meetings, and the rhythm they have here is really nice and gets you in a good mood.But tonight when we came back to our host family, and there we prayed and sang a little bit together, and it was nice and relaxing to sing these there songs: As a deer, what a friend we have in Jesus and. The two first songs, I love so sing in my church back home (and of course here, when I get the chance), specially when we have meeting where both youth and old people are. I love this “bedehussanga” (old Christian hymns).I just felt to mention these.

3-2-1- BUNGEE

from Wednesday to Sunday, we where 14 students and 2 teachers from Hald at Blue Mango Hotel in Kampala. Where there for our Infield course, we had some teaching, reflections, counselling and of course a lot of social. I had a really good time, it was so fun to be together with so many friends again, to share good and bad thing so fare in our stay abroad, and also to get advice from the teachers and the other students.In my room we where six guys, at three two-storeyed bunk, so it was quit cramped. But that was ok, because we where out of the room most of the day, and it was so fun to just talk nonsense (Tullprat) too late in the night:pHade some really good days. So thank you all, I look forward to see you all at Hald again.

Before I finish this blog, I have to say something about when we went Bungee jumping, because that was soo cool and fun. (Just for the record, the Bungee we did at our spare time, so the school did not organise it.) We hade to jump from at tower, which was 44 meters from the water surface, and what a kick it was to jump, you are trying not to look down, but of course you do, your heart is pumping more than unusual, and than the bungee guide says “3-2-1-BUNGY”, and you have to jump and bungee. It was so cool to be in the air, and than straight in to the water (you could choose if you wanted to touch the water or not). I hade three jumps, the first and the second was lovely, and I hade almost my half body in the water. The last jump, was crazy, since I was the last person jumping, I got some extra rope, so I think almost all my body was under water (maybe except the ankles). I can describe it, but it felt good and was a really adrenaline kick!!!Here I have put some pictures together of my jump. (The pictures is taken by Aina M Svendsen and Øystein Ruud)

Better late than never!

Today I finally got the packaged my mother had sent my in the end of November. (She has sent a cd with pictures in October, but that is still somewhere else then here:p). It actually arrived in Kampala 13.Desember, but they did not send out the letter before a week after, and then the FOCUS office closed for the Christmas, and this was my first day after New Year, but it was worth waiting for.This was what I found in the package:
- Nordvestlandskalendere 2007 (Calder of 2007 with pictures from the part of Norway I live in. In fact at the front, there where a picture from a lighthouse on my Island (Godøya) and there was also a picture inside with Godøya on it, Beautiful!)
- Dumle lollipop
- Six different kind of Christmas magazine (Donald, NR.91 Stomeperud, Flåklypa, Mickey Mouse, Billy and Knoll og Tott)
- Three packages with Vestlansk Lefse (type of griddle cake (thin, potato-based pastry traditionally served with butter).
- Lasagne plats and lasagne powder (so now I can make lasagne by my self:p )-
- Two pack of Norwegian rice porridge (Fast food, only 5 minutes cooking time).
- Four Kick liquorice stick ( Two ordinary and two with lemon taste).
- Christmas marzipan
- Mør (Yeah, I know this is a Norwegian word, but I do not knot what I shall translate this word, I now many Norwegians also have problem with this word. But that’s life.. hehe:p )
- Many copies of the famous Norwegian Newspaper Sunmørsposten (and one Nytt I Uka paper).- Smulting/dough ring
I would like to thank everyone that was a part of this Christmas package (or as some of my family maybe would say “Nødsending) and the packages that are somewhere between Norway, Uganda and the sun. :p

Finni and me and Java

Since the last post, I have been in Kenya and Nairobi me, per, Aina and Ingrid went for the Ezra conference, which was hosted by Focus Kenya. We arrived two days early for the conference, so we stayed with the Norwegian Hald students in Nairobi. It was really good to see them again and to see how they are living and to sheer our time in Africa so fare.I liked the conference very much; it was much program every day, a little bit more than we are used to back home. I had some interesting meetings and seminars; I think I liked the seminar about leadership the most.On New Years Eve, we were 13 Norwegians together ( the 12 Hald students based in Kenya and Uganda and the sister of Thomas), so we hade to have a Norwegian feature in the New Years program. We also celebrated the New Year twice, since we are two hours in front hear, we also celebrated the Norwegian New Year. I also met some nice people from South Africa, which I got to know. If I was going to South Africa someday, I must come and visit them, and I could stay with them. So I think that in the year 2010, in the summer would be good time to visit South Africa.

We stayed in Kenya for a week, and me, Per and Finnie managed to go to town four times, so I go to see some of Nairobi town, it is more western and modern than Kampala. So I felt like a tourist, and also did some shopping. And we also found our "own" coffee shop, Java, which in fact visited all four times, some times eating, some times dirking milkshakes or coffee.So what about the bus trip to and from Nairobi, when we arrived in Nairobi we used 13 hours, and they said we should use 10 hours. And the way back… Back we drove over the night, we used 17 Hours, and I did not sleep at all:p and a little tip, if you are going to take bus here, sit as long as you can in front in the bus, before if you sit behind, you will really feel all the bumps in the road, and in the route between Kampala and Nairobi, you will fin many, small and big.

Ok, if you don’t know way I want to go to South Africa in 3 ½ year, I will tell you: It is because they are going to host the football World Cup then, hopefully the Norwegian also will qualify.And to before I finish this post, I will write down my New Year resolutions (for the rest of my time here in Uganda).

1) At least 3 jogging trips every week
2) Eat some fruits every day.
3) Eat less candy and drink lesser sodas during the week.

Ein annalens julefeiring

Dette med å feire jula vekke frå familien, trudde eg skulle bli det vanskeligaste (saman med maten) før eg reiste til Uganda. Maten he faktisk godt bra, like vel om det er uvanleg å ete middag til kvelds, ofte etter klokka 22.00 på kvelden :P
So kva med jula? Eg var nervøs for at dette skulle bli den tida eg verkelig fekk heimlengsel, der eg verkelig skulle ønske eg var heime. Men det har overraskande nokke ikkje skjedd.
Ikkje det at eg ikkje savne familie og vennar heime, for det gjer eg verkelig, eg gler meg til å sjå alle saman igjen. Gled meg til å feire jul igjen saman med dokke neste år, der eg får med meg, julemiddagen, juleselskap med besta, førjulsturneringa, romjulsturneringa og alt anna som høre jula til.

Men i staden å bruke mykje tid på å tenke på alt eg kunna ha opplevd, alt som er så trygt og kjært. Så gjekk eg inn i jula med den innstillinga om at dette blei ei annalens jul, ei julefeiring som eg bare kommer til å få oppleve ein gong, so kvifor ikkje berre prøve å kose meg og nyte den. Å d klarte eg, sitter nå på Boxing Day å skrive denne bloggen (2 juledag).
So her komme litt om korleis Julaftan og 1.juledag var.

Julaftan

Dagen starte med at eg for saman med vertsfamilien i kyrkja, denne dagen so var gudstenesta litt spesiell i forhold til vanleg. Dei hadde laga til eit julespel, som inneheld song, dans, drama, musikk og masse meir. Dei hadde også utvida og funne på litt ekstra innhald i juleevangelia, var mykje humor i spelet, so eg likte det veldig bra. I motsetning til mange andre julespel eg har sett, so var til og med Gud og Satan med i spelet. Elles var det mykje synging av julesongar under gudstenesta, so eg likte det veldig godt.
I motsetning til oss i Noreg, so feira dei ikkje på julaftan, men første juledag.
So på kvelden so for oss (Eg, Per, Ingrid og Aina) på grillparty at med brødrane våre. Å sete ute å ete grillmat er vel veldig langt unna korleis oss feira jula heime:p men det var ein anna leis, men fin julaftan. Å eg fekk også ein telefon heima frå, so vå kjekt å få prata litt med dei.

1.Juledag

Starta også i dag med å fare i kyrkja, i dag merka ein på folk at dette var ein spesiell dag, folk var so glad og fulle av energi. Og det merkast på mange av songane, tok heilt av på dei siste songane (fekk filma litt, so fær vise det når eg kjem heim), det var no berre morosamt. Etter det so var det å ønske folk God jul, før ein for heim og skulle ete julemiddag (eller julelunsj som ein kallar det her). Aina og Ingrid var også invitert heim til oss.
So kva var det oss fekk til mat, her er noko av det : kylling/hane, kalkun, gris, biff, chips, irish og søt poteter, 2 forskjellige risa, 3 forskjellige juicen, vatn og Chapati (Kanskje meir med:P)

So blei det å slappe av resten av dagen, avslutta med kake (sia to av brødrane våre hadde vært bursdag i Desember) å restekvelds. Før ein avslutta med å synge og be.

So det var litt av jula mi, blei kanskje litt lang blogg denne gangen.
Eg har hatt ei God men annalens jul, men sitter igjen med ei positivt inntrykk.
Uansett så feira oss jul av den same grunn, at Jesus blei født. Å det er vel kanskje ein ting som eg har fått tid til å tenke meir på, vekke frå ”julestresset” som er heime. Det er i alle fall ein bra ting og ta med seg.

Eg reiser nå til Kenya og Nairobi, skal feire nyttår der, skal være med på ein konferanse i regi av FOCUS Kenya. Blir vel der ei 7-8 dagar, så det blir vel inga oppdateringa på bloggen før det.

A Christmas away from home

One of the things I thought would be most difficult with going to stay in another country for six months was celebrating Christmas away from your family. For is it a time true the year when it is family, it has to be Christmas. And also it will be a different way of celebrating.
As the same as everything else (for example the food), thing are different, but still I have had liked it, I have had a good Christmas, I have enjoyed, had a good time with my host family. And the Christmas message is the same here, we celebrate Christmas for the same reason as home. A good thing with these Christmas is that I have had more time to think about the reason that we celebrate, that Jesus was born.

Or is it because in the last eight days, I have been to a Wedding, a 30-years wedding anniversary party and an end of year meeting for the singles in the DC Churches in Kampala?

Yeah, it started with a wedding last Saturday, when our boss Sam Opolot finally got Alice as a wife, it were a nice wedding, where we four Norwegian “had” to sing a couple of verses of the song “O`store Gud”, and I also mad a little introduction speech to the song. Luckily the three other ones are good singers, and I was sure not to hold the microphone:P
and there was a lot of dancing in between the speeches. (Søse dansing for å sei d på fint norsk :P). Here is a picture of the wedding couple. I think maybe Sam says to Alice “ I Want To Hold Your Hand”

On the following Friday our hostmother`s sister and husband was celebrating there 30th wedding anniversary, and Masters Kay & Peer was of course invited. (On the envelope and in the invitation card, there in fact stood Masters in front of our name. I think that’s was very funny, so I am going to save them). I liked the party very much, many good and funny speeches and stories. And I also think it is very good to so see that the husband still can make his wife blush, when he gives here so many different names in his speech, lovely. I can easily say to him She Loves You.

On Sunday it was time for the yearly meeting for the singles in the DC churches here in Kampala, and of course, me and Per attended that also. We almost had to find out who the singles celebrates their parties. They discuss a couple of things, that I think was just a small t thing, and should be over in less than 10 minutes. But in the culture they love to discuss, so it took almost two hours, Help. But it also a good thing to think that we can work it out. The meeting was ok, and it was fun when our good friend and workmate Apollo, was elected to be the president in the club for the next two years. So here is a picture of the El Presidento

And since we are into singles, I just want to send a warm message back home, in the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve (in Norwegian it is much easier, we just say Romjul), our Singles club (BedeHusKaraUtenKvinne) are going to have their yearly meeting. I just hope and try to Imagine that next year there our club will contain less members (our goal is to end the club:P )

I fell fine but Please Mr.Postman look and see if there is a letter in your bag for me, at least my mother has sent my letters, and the first she sent for over seven weeks ago. (not Yesterday). Of course I look forward to Get back home, but still I like the time I spend here in Uganda, and look forward to the time to come.

To sleep or not to sleep

Is to wake up at 2.AM and not managing to go sleep again a good ting or a bad ting?To find that out I will look at the different tings, and put them in Negative or Positive

Positive: - Have good time to read
- Can listen to your mp3 player.
- When the cook crows at 4.Am outside your window, you are already awake, so he dose not wake you up. Also at 4.15. 5.00, 6.00 and so on.
- You can sneeze-
- When the Cook at 4.30 has problems to crow, you can laugh.
- When the car alarm goes off, outside your window at 5.15. You are still not a sleep, so it will not wake you up.
- You have good time to think about the people that means a lot to you.
- You can think about your future, try to find out something clever.
- Since the power the last days, has been gone true the day, and only comes back in the night (3.30 Am I think), you can charge your mobile phone that is completely out of power.
- When the Alarm on your phone says it is time to stand up, you are already up.
- You will probably sleep a lot better the following night.

Negative
- You will maybe be a little tiered true the day.
- You will maybe have a little bit headache
- When you stand up you still do not have a clue for what you are going to do in the future.
- You now that the cook will try again next night, and several times
- If you sneeze too much, you will wake up your roommate.

Possibilities
- You can use your laptop, to play a game, watch movies, series, write your paper, blogs, and mails. (The problem is that I do not want to wake up my room mate, but if you have your one room and laptop you have many possibilities.
- You can train.
- Write letter for hand (if you like that).

So after I have looked at this, I just have to say that there is not any question about that staying awake true the night, has to be a positive ting. So if you think that the day has to little hours to do what you want, there is a lot of possibilities true the night.

1) I thought that the role to the cook was to wake up farmer, when the sun stands up. So can you tell me why he “cries” all true the night?2) Would you ever think about having a cook as a pet? Give me a good reason

Trip to Bushenyi and Rwanda

On Wednesday we went to Bushenyi (me, Per, Aina and Ingrid) to visit Kathrine and Anne Margrethe. We stayed there until Friday morning when we all six went to Rwanda, where we stayed to Sunday. I hade a very good time, and there is a lot to tell, but I am not going to bore you with too much, so I will just tell a couple of things that we did do.On our trip south we stopped at the equator line, this was really cool, we could now be at the north, middle, and south and once. They also showed us a experience, the water in north and south will go different way, and in the middle, it will just go straight, if you pore water bucket (with hole) and let in pore out. Hard to explain, but I have filmed it, so when I come back I am going to showed it. It was something everyone should see, was so cool.
Bushenyi is a lovely place, and I fell much more relax there, than I am in Kampala, because it is so much more peaceful and the scenery is so beautiful.

So what about Rwanda and Kigali (the capital), I liked this town very much, its is very clean and beautiful. On Friday we just walk a little bit around the town, before we found a place to eat, I order spaghetti Bolognese, and it was so good, one of the best spaghetti I have ever eaten. On Saturday we were on another place, and eat pizzas, this were also very good, so I have a good experience with the food in Rwanda. Yeah, I now that I only ate Italian dishes :p
On Saturday we first visited a church where there in 94 was a massacre and than a Museum, the stories we where told and learn there, were so strong. In the church we visited, there was once 10 000 lock and killed inside the church. I can believe that people could and can do such ting to each other. I have no words to describe it, but I thing people should be told the stories, so that maybe we will learn, and than it will never happen again.We spend the day with and Australian backpacker, that luckily for us spoke very good French, so he could translate for us. Since the in Rwanda spoke French.I had a good time in Rwanda, and I my only regret is that we did not have more days to spend their.

The story of the hunt for “Sjokoladepålegg” (chocolate spread)

For the people that don now. Me and Per have searched all Kampala many times for chocolate spread (for ex: Nugatti, Sjokade or Nutella), we found that they had Nutella, but in Kampala all was/and are still sold out. And we have asked several times “When does the Nutella come in?” Maybe next week people tell us, every time. But to the point, on Friday, in the first shop vi visited in Kigali, what do we find in the shelves. Nutella and another brand, so me and Per have no 4 jars with Chocolate spreads. And hopefully they will have gotten more in Kampala, before we are finished with those
So what to search for next? Maybe Brunost and Stranda mør?

Jinja
On Sunday, me, Per, Aina and Ingrid went with Jeb to Jinja, around to hours driving from Kampala. First of all this is a really a lovely little town comepared to Kampala, much more peaceful, cleaner and much more greener. The first thing we did there, was to visit the Source of the Nile, it is here where the River Nile starts. After that we went into the town to eat lunsj, before we went to another place, where we saw falls. Both of these places was so lovely to see, and also when we drove from Kampala to Jinja, the land was so green and open.If am lucky, I will get to put out some pictures to show you, that is much better than me telling you how it looks.

Wedding
On Saturday I was in my first wedding here in Uganda, for Nicolas, one that works for FOCUS, and also stay with Sam (Where me and Per lived before), so we have gotten to now him. Weddings in Africa is bigger than in Norway, they had invited up to 400-500 people, in Uganda you invited everyone you now. So of course everyone is going to get server food. It was a nice wedding, of course some different compeard to Norwegian weddings. There where a lot of speeches, but neither the groom, bride or the best man spook, something that I am used to from home.
